From this, a variety of movement possibilities develop: rolling together, flowing, supporting each other, flying...

With the production »Right for Fight«, love is to be rewritten. For it is followed by the contradiction of opposing emotions, ambivalent reactions, paradoxical, passionate and irrational decisions. This duet describes love as a universal martial art, without protective equipment, as a vulnerable fighter. Power is negotiated, fought with each other - for each other, against each other, side by side. From love to hate, blindness to open eyes, from desire to boredom, from harmony to conflict: they want to stay, but still leave, break up. They want to forgive, to care yet hurt, to open yet close....

»Kontakt-los!« is a co-production of the ARENA Festival and the Institute for Theatre and Media Studies at FAU Erlangen with the artists Kathrin Knöpfle and Urte Gudian, in which scenes are presented together with FAU students that oscillate between performance, theatre and dance.

»Vor Sonnenaufgang« (Before Sunrise) deals with alcoholism and the consequences that arise from it for relatives and sufferers. As an impulse, the work of the same name by Gerhart Hauptmann is linked critically, feministically and personally with the present and in doing so moves a father-daughter relationship into the centre.

»Wir sagen uns Dunkles« (We talk about darkness) is a scenic correspondence between the poets Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan with drums and percussion. The letters tell of their twenty-year relationship, marked by love, longing, touch, misunderstandings and silence.

The piece »the other side« tells the story of two beings moving towards each other. Covering their faces, they try to recognise each other through touch. They touch each other - unity, then difference. Through movement and sounds, a communication emerges that seeks, reacts, mirrors, loses.

ARENA 2022 exists under the motto »touch me!« as a connecting point for social interaction. Therefore we heartily invite you to dance with us and the artists. Come along, bring friends and strangers. After the hangover breakfast, we will look back on the past two years with companions and actors of the ARENA Festival. How has the time of the cultural lockdown changed us in terms of our work? What is different today? What will remain? How do we allow touches to emerge through screens, masks or spatial distances? In the process different perspectives from culture and science will have their say and there will be the opportunity for the audience to contribute questions and comments to the debate.
