The migrant has lost their nation-state, the refugee their home. The trans person loses their body. They all cross a border. That border is part of them and cuts through them.
»Обiйми: Hold me, hold me, hold« was inspired by Alina Belyagina's research on »Transgenderism in Shamanism« and the book »Can the monster speak« by Paul B. Preciado. By confronting the audience with phrases from the book and asking provocative questions the performer creates an ironic atmosphere. The performance was produced during the war in her country of origin, Ukraine, and addresses the idea and metaphoric image of fragility. Through a correlation of body, voice, and movement Alina Belyagina plays with that fragility and its monstrosity in an expressive dance and physical performance.
